Biodiesel Plant
In response to these factors, BPI is to construct a state of the art
Biodiesel processing plant here in Ireland. This plant will be the only
one of its kind in Ireland and will have the capacity to process a significant
percentage of Irelands’ Biodiesel requirements until 2011 and beyond.
When the Dundalk plant is fully operational the Directors will consider
the rollout of future plants, to capitalise on Economies of scale. The
Directors’ strategy is to maximise economy of scale efficiencies
by building further large-scale plants in Ireland. These plants will however
not be considered until Dundalk plant is working to full capacity. The
successful rollout of this strategy will enable BPI to become a significant
Irish and European Biodiesel Producer.
We will also install 12 large-scale oil presses, where we can press all
seeds on site. We believe that this investment will stimulate a renewable
energy marketplace for local farmers. Our investment in this pressing
facility will create an invaluable link between farmers and Biodiesel
producers.
Our plant will be located on a 3-acre site in Greenore Port, Dundalk,
Co. Louth. Our proposed plant is in a large warehousing development, 150
yards from the port, which we will share with a large transport company.
The layout of the plant is ideal as it is designed specifically for heavy
goods usage. After a number of site inspections we are ready to proceed
with our planning application.
The Location of the plant is ideal due to its proximity to Greenore Port,
which is located a few minutes from the main Dublin to Belfast motorway
and rail networks. This port is used regularly for the importation of
large quantities of raw materials. As a result, it is perfectly equipped
to deal with our importation of seed. BPI plant is within the geographic
centre of the Dublin and Belfast fuel supply infrastructure and most importantly
we are ideally placed for our exports to the UK and Europe. BPI plant
will be located in the border area of Ireland and as a result is in close
proximity to the UK market through Northern Ireland. The UK market is
one of our key markets, due to the 20p per litre subsidy. Belfast is a
little over 60 minutes away by road for a HGV. Irelands most up to date
road network runs right from the heart of Dublin City to Dundalk. This
road network is exclusively motorway and will enable us to transfer goods
to and from the capital, Dublin, quickly and easily. Typically, a Heavy
Goods Vehicle could leave our plant and be in Dublin in a little over
an hour.Dundalk has been chosen by the Irish government to be the location
for the 2020 project. The 2020 project, under the leadership of Sustainable
Energy Ireland, will dedicate an area to house Irelands renewable energy
resources. In particular to house large scale, Biofuel plants for heat
and electricity generation. As Irelands only Biodiesel processing plant,
our location in Dundalk will put us in a very strong position, as SEI
will be awarding grant finance for the construction of a Biodiesel plant.
Our plant will be located within a few minutes of the new SEI (Sustainable
Energy Ireland) headquarters and as a result will make it extremely convenient
for SEI to work with us on Research and Development projects for Europe,
which carry further funding opportunities. |
